Podiatry Overview

The Podiatric Specialists on staff at ASC Spartanburg offer a complete range of services. From properly diagnosing the cause of foot pain to providing ongoing foot care to diabetics, our physicians have the experience and the technical resources to help patients return to pain-free mobility and better podiatric health.

Problems Can Begin at Any Age

When we’re young, a sports injury like an ankle sprain or congenitally flat feet may lead to our only encounter with a podiatrist. But as we age, wear and tear can cause problems like heel pain, bunions and arthritis. Diabetes and peripheral vascular disease (PVD) can also result in age-related foot problems. Most commonly, podiatrists treat patients with:

  • achilles tendinitis
  • age-related arthritis
  • sports injuries
  • fractures of foot and ankle
  • congenital foot deformities
  • diabetes
  • peripheral vascular disease
  • warts
  • bunions
  • fungus toenail and athletes’ foot
  • plantar faciitis (heel pain)
  • sprains and strains
  • heel spur syndrome
  • arch pain
  • hammer toes

Walking Facts

  • Walking an extra 20 minutes each day will burn off 7 pounds of body fat per year.
  • To burn off 1 plain M&M candy, you need to walk the full length of a football field. Think about that next time you dip your hand into a candy bowl at someone's office!
  • Longer, moderately-paced daily walks (40 minutes at 60% to 65% maximum heart rate) are best for losing weight.
  • On average, every minute of walking can extend your life by 1.5 to 2 minutes. That's about a 2 for 1 trade-off!
